Which posts are in APPSC Group 2 in 2026?

APPSC Group 2 in 2026 has 673 posts in twelve jobs, listed in the annexure of G.O.Ms.No.81 of 22 August 2026. Deputy Tahsildar has 200 and Deputy Mandal Parishad Development Officer has 176, so two jobs hold 376 of the 673. The other ten jobs share 297 posts across accounts, secretariat, tax, excise, co-operative, registration and municipal offices.

All twelve posts come through the one Group 2 exam, so this list does not change what you study. It matters at the point where you decide which of these jobs you want, and the rest of this page is about that decision.

What kind of work is each Group 2 post?

Each APPSC Group 2 post sits in a named government office, and the post's name tells you which one. Deputy Tahsildar is in the revenue line, Deputy MPDO in the mandal parishad, and the three Assistant Section Officer posts in the secretariat. Counted by office, revenue, mandal parishad and the two accountant posts hold 514 of the 673.

The names are as far as our sources go. We have not read the job charts or service rules of these departments, so this page does not list daily duties or promotion steps. If you read a detailed list of duties elsewhere, check that it names the department rule it comes from.

The two largest posts are named after offices you can visit: the tahsildar office and the mandal parishad office in your own mandal. Asking someone who works there what their week looks like will tell you more about fit than any table on this page.

What is the APPSC Group 2 salary per month?

APPSC Group 2 starting basic pay runs from 25,220 for Junior Accountant to 45,830 for Deputy MPDO, on the 2022 scales printed in notification 11/2023. A Deputy Tahsildar starts at 44,570. Adding dearness allowance and house rent allowance, our estimate of a Deputy Tahsildar's starting gross is about 68,330 a month in a district headquarters city.

The gross figures are our estimates. Each is the starting basic plus dearness allowance at 37.31 percent plus house rent allowance: 16 percent in the 13 district headquarters cities, and 10 percent, the lowest slab, in the last column. Towns on the 12 percent list fall between the two. City compensatory allowance, special pay, provident fund or pension contribution and income tax are left out, so your first credited salary will differ.

The dearness allowance of 37.31 percent counts from 1 January 2024 under G.O.Ms.No.60 of 20 October 2025, and was first paid with the October 2025 salary. When the rate is revised, these estimates move with it. The basic stays on its scale.

If you have seen 28,940 quoted as a Deputy Tahsildar's starting pay, that is the 2015 scale of 28,940 to 78,910. The 2022 pay revision, G.O.Ms.No.1 of 17 January 2022, replaced it, and the Assistant Section Officer's old 26,600 to 77,030 went the same way. The Group 2 notification will print the scales for 2026. Where it differs from this table, go by the notification.

Does APPSC Group 1 pay more than Group 2?

APPSC Group 1 starts higher. A Deputy Collector or Deputy Superintendent of Police starts at 61,960 basic on the 2022 scale in notification 12/2023, against 44,570 for a Group 2 Deputy Tahsildar, about 39 percent more. By the same estimate method, a Deputy Collector's starting gross is about 94,991 a month in a district headquarters.

At the top of the two scales the difference is about 19 percent, 151,370 against 127,480. Group 1 is also a different exam: a descriptive Mains of 750 marks and a 75-mark interview, where Group 2 ranks you on 300 objective Mains marks. How should I order my Group 2 post preferences?

In APPSC's last Group 2 cycle, notification 11/2023 made selection by Mains merit alone, with no interview. Your rank is the exam's part; the order in which you list posts is yours. Pay barely separates most of the list: 495 of the 673 posts start within 4,860 rupees of each other. So order them by the work and the place.

Look at the pay table again. A Deputy MPDO starts 1,260 above a Deputy Tahsildar, and an Assistant Section Officer 3,600 below. Nine of the twelve posts sit on those three scales. Those gaps matter in a monthly budget. Across a career, they are small next to the difference between work you like and work you put up with.

• First, strike out what you cannot take. In notification 11/2023, Prohibition and Excise Sub Inspector had an age limit of 18 to 30, and Sub-Registrar Grade 2 a minimum age of 20. A few posts ask for a degree in a named subject, such as economics or law. The 2026 notification will state its own limits.
• Then rank by the work. Ask which office you would want to go to for years: revenue, a mandal parishad, accounts, the secretariat, tax, excise, registration, co-operation or a municipality.
• Then weigh the place. Under the 2025 Presidential Order, Andhra Pradesh's 26 districts sit in six zones, and 95 percent of each cadre goes to local candidates. A cadre is the pool a post is filled from: a district, a zone or several zones. The notification will say which cadre each Group 2 post belongs to.
• Use pay last, to separate two posts you would be equally glad to hold.

Prestige is a poor guide. A post that sits high on other people's lists is a weak choice for you if its work does not suit you. If you would not want to do a job for ten years, put it lower, whatever its count or its scale.
