Which 13 posts are in APPSC Group 1 2026?
APPSC notification 07/2026 lists 13 posts with 166 vacancies (para 1.2). We have grouped them by the kind of work. The pay scales are the ones printed in the notification. Age is counted on 1 July 2026, before any relaxation. "Multi-zone" means the post is filled separately for Multi-zone I (Zones I to III) and Multi-zone II (Zones IV to VI).
Before the Mains, APPSC asks you to put the posts in your order of preference (para 1.6 and 15.9 of the notification). Many aspirants can say what a Deputy Collector or a DSP does. Fewer can say what a Divisional Development Officer does on a working day, though that post has 35 vacancies this year, one less than DSP (Civil). We read notification 07/2026 on 6 October 2026, counted every seat in its vacancy table (Annexure I), and looked for each post's work in Andhra Pradesh government orders and official department pages. Where an official page gives only part of the picture, we say so next to the post.

| Transport and cooperatives | Deputy Registrar (08) | A.P. Cooperative Service | 16, of which 1 carried forward | 57,100 to 1,47,760 | 18 to 44 | Multi-zone |
Counted by kind of work, the 166 vacancies split like this (our count from the table): running a division or town 59, police 39, tax and public money 31, transport and cooperatives 19, and schools, welfare and jobs 18. A carried-forward vacancy is a reserved seat that an earlier recruitment did not fill. The notification fills those first (para 1.2, Note i).
Every post needs a bachelor's degree, with one difference. DSP (Communications) needs a B.E. or B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, or Radio Engineering (para 3). The two DSP posts also have height, chest and eyesight standards.

What do the Deputy Collector, the DDO and the Municipal Commissioner do?
These three APPSC Group 1 posts run government work in an area: a revenue division, a set of mandals and villages, or a town. For the Divisional Development Officer, an Andhra Pradesh government order of 2025 lists the duties in full. For the other two, the official pages we opened confirm the role but not a full duty list.
Deputy Collector. A Deputy Collector can head a revenue division of a district as its Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO). The Vizianagaram district website says: "A Sub division is headed by a Revenue Divisional Officer in the rank of a Deputy Collector or a Sub-Collector in Cadre of IAS." The same page adds that the RDO is the Sub Divisional Magistrate for that division. Partly confirmed: the page does not list every task, and a Deputy Collector can also be posted elsewhere in district administration.
Divisional Development Officer (DDO). The government created 77 DDO posts, one for every revenue division, through two orders of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department in 2020 and January 2024. G.O.Ms.No.58 of 12 June 2025 then set out the job. The DDO heads the Divisional Development Office for all wings of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department in the division, and works under the District Collector. The order asks the DDO to tour at least 20 days a month and to control the Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs). It also asks for an inspection of each Mandal Parishad office at least once in six months, and of at least 3 gram panchayats every month. The rural job scheme (MGNREGS) in the division also falls under the DDO.
Municipal Commissioner Grade-II. This officer is posted as the Commissioner of a municipality. The order that posted the three Group 1 2023 recruits (G.O.Rt.No.898, 12 July 2026) posted two of them as Commissioners of Pulivendula and Dhone municipalities, and the third to Nellore Municipal Corporation. Partly confirmed: the Commissioner's legal powers are in the A.P. Municipalities Act, 1965, and we could not open an official copy of that Act. So we do not list them here.

What do the two DSP posts in APPSC Group 1 do?
APPSC Group 1 2026 has 39 police vacancies: 36 for DSP (Civil) and 3 for DSP (Communications). Both posts are in the A.P. Police Service and both have an upper age limit of 30. The work is different. One leads police in an area of a district. The other works in the wing that runs police radio and wireless messages.
DSP (Civil). District police work is organised in sub-divisions, each with several circles and police stations. The Vizianagaram district page says the district "is divided into 03 Police Sub-Divisions with 10 Circles and 41 Law and Order Police Stations". Each sub-division is led by a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO). The page does not state the SDPO's rank. Partly confirmed: the official page shows the sub-divisions and their officers, but not a written duty list for the DSP rank.
DSP (Communications). This officer works in the Police Communications wing. A Home Department order of 2008 describes the wing's police communication centres, or radio stations, which pass wireless messages between police offices. Partly confirmed: that order describes the wing, not the DSP's own duties, and it is from before the 2014 division of the State. What the notification does say: the post is filled for the whole State with no local quota (para 6.2), and it needs an engineering degree in electronics, telecommunication or radio.

What do the State Tax, treasury and audit officers do?
Three APPSC Group 1 posts look after tax and public money, with 31 vacancies between them. The Assistant Commissioner of State Tax works in the State Tax (GST) department and can head GST audit and enforcement teams. The Assistant Treasury Officer works where the government pays its bills and pensions. The Assistant Audit Officer checks the accounts of village panchayats and other local bodies.
Assistant Commissioner of State Tax. This officer works in the State Tax (GST) department. G.O.Ms.No.419 of 1 June 2022, which reorganised the department, also places Assistant Commissioners at the head of GST audit and enforcement teams. In its words, at the zonal level, of six audit teams "the other five teams will be headed by Assistant Commissioners".
Assistant Treasury Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer. The Krishna district treasury page says the department "regulates payment of pensions to all state Govt pensioners", checks the bills of government offices, and keeps public accounts. On that page, Assistant Treasury Officers head some of the district's sub-treasuries. Partly confirmed: there is no written duty list for the post itself.
Assistant Audit Officer. The Nellore district State Audit page says the office audits the accounts of panchayat raj bodies, urban local bodies, market committees and temples in the district, every year. Its Assistant Audit Officers lead the audit teams. Partly confirmed, for the same reason. This is the one post filled zone by zone (para 6.4), not by multi-zone.

What do the education, tribal welfare and employment officers do?
Three APPSC Group 1 posts serve schools, tribal students and jobseekers, with 18 vacancies between them. For all three, Andhra Pradesh district websites list the office's work in plain terms, so these are confirmed duties. The seats are 14 for District Educational Officer, 1 for District Tribal Welfare Officer and 3 for District Employment Officer.
District Educational Officer. The Krishna district education page lists "Monitoring of all educational activities in the district" and "Monitoring recruiting of teachers at district level". It also puts the Right to Education Act in the district under this office.
District Tribal Welfare Officer. The Krishna district tribal welfare page lists the hostels and residential schools for tribal students that the office runs, and the scholarships it gives. There is 1 vacancy this year, in Multi-zone II.
District Employment Officer. The Krishna district employment exchange page lists its main programmes. They include registering unemployed youth, "sponsoring of candidates" to employers, and career counselling.

What do the Regional Transport Officer and the Deputy Registrar do?
These two APPSC Group 1 posts regulate: one regulates vehicles on the road, the other regulates cooperative societies. Both duties are confirmed on official Andhra Pradesh pages. Together they have 19 vacancies: 3 for Regional Transport Officer and 16 for Deputy Registrar.
Regional Transport Officer. The Transport Department's page lists its main work as "Enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, Collection of taxes and fees and issuance of Driving Licences and Certificate of Fitness to Transport Vehicles", plus registering vehicles and granting permits. Regional Transport Offices across the State carry out this work.
Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies. The Nellore district cooperation page says: "Divisional Coop. Officers in the cadre of Deputy Registrars of Coop. Societies are the heads at division level." The same page says a District Cooperative Audit Officer, also of Deputy Registrar rank, audits cooperative societies. So a Deputy Registrar can head cooperative work in a division or audit societies in a district. The same page shows Deputy Registrars in other posts too, such as Officer on Special Duty at the district cooperative bank.

How many of each post are in my multi-zone?
In APPSC Group 1 2026, Multi-zone I has 71 multi-zone vacancies and Multi-zone II has 77 (our count from Annexure I). On top of these come 15 Assistant Audit Officer vacancies filled zone by zone and the 3 State-wide DSP (Communications) posts. 71 + 77 + 15 + 3 = 166.
Paras 6.3 and 6.4 keep 95% of each zone or multi-zone list for its locals. Annexure I marks 21 open seats in these lists, and the 3 DSP (Communications) posts have no local quota, so 24 of the 166 are open to everyone.
| Post | Multi-zone I (Zones I to III) | Multi-zone II (Zones IV to VI) |
|---|---|---|
| Deputy Collector | 6 | 6 |
| Assistant Commissioner of State Tax | 9 | 5 |
| DSP (Civil) | 17 | 19 |
| District Educational Officer | 7 | 7 |
| Regional Transport Officer | 2 | 1 |
| District Tribal Welfare Officer | 0 | 1 |
| Deputy Registrar | 9 | 7 |
| Municipal Commissioner Grade-II | 4 | 8 |
| Assistant Treasury / Accounts Officer | 1 | 1 |
| District Employment Officer | 0 | 3 |
| Divisional Development Officer | 16 | 19 |
| Total | 71 | 77 |
Two things stand out. Multi-zone I has no District Tribal Welfare Officer or District Employment Officer vacancy this time. And Multi-zone II has twice the Municipal Commissioner seats of Multi-zone I (8 against 4). For the Assistant Audit Officer, the zones have 2, 2, 0, 2, 5 and 4 (Zones I to VI), so a Zone III local has no local audit seat this year.

Can I choose which of the 13 posts I get?
APPSC takes your post preferences, but it does not promise them. You give post and multi-zone or zone preferences online before the Mains, and again at certificate verification. The ones given at verification are final (para 15.9). Para 15.10 adds that preferences are "only indicative". The Commission can assign you to any notified post you are qualified and eligible for.
So read the duties above before you write your order. A post you have never heard of may suit you well, and it may have more seats in your multi-zone than the one you first thought of.
The one thing to keep from this page: the 13 posts are five kinds of work, and the seats for each post differ by multi-zone, so check both before you write your preference order.
